Kia ora! I'm Irena, a photographer based in Akl, NZ

I'm a lifelong photographer who took a childhood hobby, turned it into a passion and now it's my career. Music & events is my focus, but I'm always willing to give new things a go!

My favourite thing about photography is seeing a whole world of talented people (in whatever way that may be), or special events occurring, and being able to be a small part of that world - capturing the story and helping share it to those that matter and making you wish you had been there.

Available for travel within New Zealand, (& worldwide - lemme put that European passport to use!), why not reach out & lets get chatting!

Fun Facts About Me

I talked my way into doing Year 13 photography at school despite not having done any of the prerequisite art or photography classes over the years. The deal was I had to teach myself any of the skills - so the school of youtube and I became besties. It was worth it!

I'm a trained primary school teacher - who one year did an impact project with my class of seven year olds on the use of photography in the classroom. We spent a whole year learning different skills and upskilling our iPad photography. I then brought in my professional gear in and every member of my class got an opportunity to take portraits using the gear, and then learnt to edit on Lightroom. We had an end of year art gallery and their photos were front and center. When I presented my project in front of my colleagues and visiting principals they were all amazed I let seven year olds handle my camera. I looked at them like "well duh, why wouldn't I foster a love of photography when they're young".
